I was contacted by a former player of Darcy’s, who now lives and works in Alberta. He had seen a memorial drawing I had created following the tragedy in Humboldt, and wrote to me asking if I would be willing to create a drawing of Darcy depicted on the bench with a few players. This young man told me, “He (Darcy) was my mentor, my best friend, and the man who lead me to be a man.”
He also asked me to incorporate a quote into the drawing, “Take care of the seconds, and the minutes will take care of themselves.”; which is something Darcy told his players often. It also became the title of the drawing, “Take Care of the Seconds”.
We agreed to a small, limited edition print run of only 10 copies. As of the date of this post, there are only 4 remaining. Click here if you wish to obtain one.
